A SERIES of charter trains will run from Okehampton Station throughout August between Okehampton and Meldon Viaduct.
The trains will run on Sunday, August 11, Sunday, August 18 and over the August bank holiday weekend.
They are being staffed by volunteer members of the Dartmoor Railway Supporters' Association. Trains depart Okehampton at 12.15pm, 2.15pm and 4.15pm, returning from Meldon at 1.30pm, 3.30pm and 5.30pm on all days. The timetable allows plenty of time to view the viaduct and its views.
First Great Western operates the Sunday rover service between Exeter and Okehampton over the summer. The services, arriving in Okehampton at 11.49am, 1.53pm and 3.51pm, connect into the trains to Meldon. Returning trains from Meldon connect into the service departing Okehampton at 2pm, 3.56pm and 5.59pm.
The buffet at Okehampton Station will be open from 9am to 6pm on Sundays, and 5pm on other days. Both the railway museum at Okehampton Station and model railway layouts at Meldon will be open.
