SEVERAL charities were given welcome cash boosts recently, thanks to the success of last year’s Chagford Show.

The board of directors of the Chagford Show voted to put a percentage of last year’s profits into a community fund to be distributed among organisations within the show’s district.

The recipients were Chagford Swimming Pool, Moretonhampstead Association for Youth, Moretonhampstead Swimming Pool, Chagford Church Bell Appeal, Drewsteignton Playing Fields, North Bovey Defibrillator Appeal, Chagford Film Festival and Chagford Youth Cricket.

Show president for 2016 Liz Elliot-Shircore, presented the cheques to the recipients of the newly created community fund (see above).

Liz also presented a cheque for £2256.85 to Dania Shaw of the Alzheimer’s Society, at the show’s annual dinner (see right).

The Alzheimer’s Society was the nominated charity for the Chagford Show during 2015 and the money was raised by the public during raffles and other activities run throughout last year.

This year’s show is on Thursday, August 18 at Mill End Fields, Chagford and the nominated charity for this year is the Devon Air Ambulance.
