HORSERIDERS are invited to join in a trek along the Tamar Valley on Sunday, October 25, to raise money for a charity which has a special significance for the event's organiser.
Michael Bickell, from Lifton, has started the inaugural ride on behalf of CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young).
The charity raises awareness of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome in local communities, offering free testing to young people aged between 14 and 35.
Tragically, Michael's daughter-in-law, Robyn, died in June, aged just 33, and the ride will be dedicated to her memory.
The ride will start at 10.30am from Three Oaks Farm at Chip Shop and the trek will take in Devon Consuls and on to Morwellham. Entry is £10.
Michael told the Times: 'It will be a very interesting and scenic ride of about 12 miles along the Tamar Valley and we will be returning to Three Oaks Farm. At the moment this inaugural event is for horse riders only and some of the monies raised will be going to the Lamerton Hunt.'
The event will be part of CRY's national awareness week and will also coincide with the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty activities week.
Earlier this year Michael and his friends were among those helping to raise £2,222 for Dave Hocking's Leafy Lanes Walk.
