A SUSPENDED NHS boss from Okehampton who was criticised at an employment tribunal has resigned from her post. Chief executive Dr Paula Vasco-Knight CBE has decided to resign from her post at South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Dr Vasco-Knight has decided to relocate to the North West of England for 'family reasons'. The trust had been investigating her conduct following the tribunal. Dr Vasco-Knight was accused of nepotism after appointing her daughter's boyfriend to an administrative role within the trust. An employment tribunal in January ruled that the trust hid the findings of an inquiry into the nepotism allegations, and misled other parties by contending Dr Vasco-Knight was exonerated. The two whistle-blowers, senior manager Penny Gates and management development lead Clare Sardari, complained that Dr Vasco-Knight did not declare a personal interest when her daughter's boyfriend was interviewed for a senior position in mid 2012. The tribunal ruled that both women had suffered by making the allegations. In a statement, the South Devon Healthcare NHS Trust said: 'The trust wishes to place on record that considerable success was achieved during Dr Vasco-Knight's tenure as chief executive. 'It is unfortunate that Dr Vasco-Knight's achievements have been overshadowed by the Employment Tribunal Judgment in January 2014 involving our trust. 'Notwithstanding the judgment of the employment tribunal, Dr Vasco-Knight asserts that an independent report commissioned by a former chair of the trust prior to the tribunal in question found no evidence that Dr Vasco-Knight had breached trust policies. 'The trust and Dr Vasco-Knight also wish to make it clear that no payments have been made to her other than those to which she is entitled under her contract of employment with the trust.' Dr Vasco-Knight was appointed a CBE in the New Year Honours List for services to the NHS.
