A COMMUNITY fundraising event has been organised to

offer a financial boost to Okehampton's rugby club.

The event, a drop-in coffee morning, will be held at the

Charter Hall in Okehampton on Saturday, September 6

from 9.30am to 12.30pm.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the

Okehampton Rugby Club and go towards the club's

continued running costs.

The event will be hosted by the Conservatives' prospective

parliamentary candidate for Central Devon, Mel Stride,

Okehampton county councillor Christine Marsh and newly

elected Okehampton town councillor Adrian Raymond

who has been actively involved in the running of the club.

Those attending the event will be able to have a cup of

tea or coffee, while cakes and bric-a-brac will also be on

sale.

Speaking before the event, Mr Stride said: 'We hear so

much about young people not having enough to do, or

spending too much time in front of the TV.

'Okehampton's rugby club offers youngsters a great

opportunity to play a competitive sport and get some

exercise.'

Adrian Raymond added: 'This is a very worthwhile cause

and I hope we can raise a significant amount of money on

behalf of the club.

'I am extremely happy to be lending my support to the

event and look forward to seeing as many people as

possible at the event.'

All are welcome to attend the event to help support

Okehampton Rugby Football Club.
