SHEBBEAR College is using the summer holidays to reduce its carbon output, with a number of projects.
The most notable of the changes being implemented at the school over the holidays is the installation of a new 50kW solar panel array, a new state of the art biology laboratory, and preparation towards the installation of the school's 200kW biomass plant, which will also include a sustainability study suite.
Plan drawings of the biomass plant are available to view on the college's 'sustainability' page on its website.
The renewable energy initiatives will not only help to reduce costs and the college's carbon footprint, but will be integral to how students are taught about key environmental issues, feeding into the college's Eco-Schools work.
