FUNDRAISERS in Hatherleigh are looking for help with a 'colossal' charity event on Saturday March 31.

Organisers of Hatherleigh's Colossal Cake Sale and coffee morning are looking for contributions of home-made cakes and biscuits, jams, preserves and savouries, along with any volunteer help during the day.

The event is taking place as part of the Help For Heroes' Colossal Cake Sale, a nationwide fundraising event from March 26 to April 7.

In 2008, there were seven cake sales to support the charity, but the event has grown rapidly in the last four years.

Last year, 184 communities donned their aprons and got baking to hold their own sale, raising money for the charity to support soldiers wounded by war. The charity is hoping to recruit even more fundraisers to hold even more cake sales in 2012.

The Hatherleigh cake sale takes place in Old Schools from 9am to 12.30pm. All are welcome to come along and enjoy refreshments and help raise money for a worthy cause.
