OKEHAMPTON were weakened for this match with players injured and some away with work, and they met a Torridgeside team that included two Ilfracombe players and one who plays for Bideford normally.

Argyle were slow out of the blocks and made a sloppy start and found themselves one down to a Marc Bettiss goal after eight minutes. Then, on 26 minutes, Harry Stevens made it 2-0 for the home side.

To their credit, Okey dug deep and worked hard to get back into the game and five minutes before half-time, Luke Mortimore fired a fierce shot in from out wide bringing a good save from the Torridgeside keeper, although he then spilled the ball to give Ben Bickle a tap-in.

Right on the stroke of half-time, great play out wide by the Okes resulted in the ball into the box hitting a Torridgeside player’s hand and the referee pointed to the penalty spot.

Up stepped Josh Coles to smash home a great spot kick and bring the game level.

Thirty minutes into the second half, Okehampton capitalised on Torridgeside having a man sent to the sin bin and a delicious ball into the box by Harvey Newman saw Jake Rowe find the net with a bullet header.

Argyle now put in a tremendous ten minutes to preserve their lead as the home side fell foul of the referee and had several players booked.

There was no further scoring and Okehampton can reflect on a great comeback and work ethic which earned them a big three points.
