Okehampton Community Garden is inviting local people to take part in its traditional wassail on Sunday (January 9).

Wassailing is an ancient tradition involving singing in the orchard to bring good health to both the apple trees and each other over the coming year.

It will take place from 4.30pm to 5.30pm this Sunday at the community garden off Fatherford Road, to be followed by refreshments.

And you can learn the songs ahead of the event tonight (Thursday), between 7pm to 8.30pm at the Ebenezer Hall on North Street. Alternatively, you can learn the songs online at www.wrenmusic.teachable to prepare for Sunday.

This first event of 2022 for Okehampton Community Garden kickstarts its 10th anniversary year.
