OKEHAMPTON Town Council is contacting Devon County Council to express concerns over a lack of pavement on Upcott Hill.

The council received a letter from Okehampton resident Leanne Enderson, who has contacted the authority in the past about the stretch of road from the end of Glendale Road up the hill, which has no pavement on either side.

Mrs Enderson expressed concerns that the speed of traffic on the hill increased the need for a pavement or footpath.

The views of councillors echoed her sentiments. Cllr David Weekes said: 'I think that us contacting Devon County Council should be done as a matter of urgency. It is a fast stretch of road, and I can completely understand the concerns raised.'

The town clerk will write a letter to Devon County Council to express the council's concerns and see if a survey can be done to look at the area in more detail.
