THERE have recently been three by-elections for Okehampton Town Council, each of them called by the Lib Dems.

These contests have cost our town thousands of pounds and yet could have been avoided by simply co-opting new councillors.

Given that the Conservatives won each of these contests, could I suggest that the Lib Dems refrain from calling any more? It would save our town much unnecessary expense, and themselves from any further electoral embarassment.
