Okehampton Town Council announced this month that it had granted over £4,000 to various local non-profit organisations in the town since February this year.
The council has granted £4,265.48 to ten Okehampton organisations in the past two months, which includes £500 to the Okehampton Rugby Football Club to purchase team kit for the junior squad and £500 to the Okehampton Community and Recreation Association (OCRA) to cover the costs of the fields in trust and the Queen’s jubilee events.
Other organisations that also received funding are the 1st Okehampton Guides and Rangers, the Okehampton Army Cadet Force and the Okehampton Primary School Parent PTFA.
The council has a budget of £37,358 this financial year which is put aside to support not-for-profit community groups which work for the benefit of the town’s residents.
In the past the council has also donated money to the Museum of Dartmoor Life to help it reopen after the lockdowns, Everything Okehampton to cover the maintenance costs of the Christmas lights, and the Ockment Centre Work Club for the purchase of a laptop.
Any community group can apply for a grant of up to £500 provided they meet the criteria.
The form can be obtained online on the council’s website or at the town hall.
All applications will be considered by the Policy and Resources Committee which usually meets once a month.
Applicants will receive confirmation that the application has been received and will also be notified of the council’s decision within ten days of the relevant meeting.
