ELDERLY residents in West Devon's rural parishes can access support and advice on how to stay healthy, independent and mobile.

Council advisers will be visiting rural areas with other organisations to chat to residents and answer questions throughout March. The visits are part of the borough council's Connect rural outreach sessions, which have been keeping West Devon parishes up to date with public services for more than five years.

Call 24 will be at some sessions to present their personal alarm systems, which are backed up by 24-hour monitoring for vulnerable adults. The system provides live operators on stand-by to assist vulnerable adults and is designed to help with independent living. Action on Hearing Loss will also be attending sessions with lots of useful information for those suffering hearing difficulties.

A representative from the Senior Council for Devon will be at the Belstone session to meet residents and discuss issues important to members of the senior community.
