DIABETES will be the theme for the next wellbeing drop-in session at Moretonhampstead Hospital, which takes place from 10am to 1pm on Tuesday, April 28.
Nigel Biernacki, community matron in Moretonhampstead for the Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust, will be giving a talk and advice on signs and symptoms and how to prevent type 2 diabetes.
People can have their blood sugar levels checked while healthy snacks will be provided for those watching what they eat. Occupational therapists from the local NHS community rehabilitation team will be available to give advice about healthy living and equipment related to managing diabetes.
Physiotherapists will be passing on advice to people with mobility concerns, including those with diabetes who may have conditions like peripheral neuropathy in the feet.
Representatives from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service are returning to give information and advice about safety at home.
The date for the following wellbeing drop-in session has been confirmed as Thursday, May 21, when the emphasis will be on maintaining a healthy heart and recovery after heart surgery.
