Children at Halwill Primary School put on a special performance as part of the school’s grandparents day.

Eighty-two grandparents attended the event. Executive headteacher Ruh Alford said: ‘We organised this day because children have a special relationship with their grandparents; one that is different to the relationship they have with their own parents.’

The day began with a presentation from the children. It was back to school for the grandparents as the Year 5 and 6 pupils gave a science lesson, confidently explaining the workings of the eye by conducting an experiment with the grandparents, much to their surprise and amusement. This was followed by a musical about King Henry VIII, reading of diary entries about The Great Fire of London and a vibrant and colourful Indian dance in celebration of the Hindu festival of Holi.
