OKEHAMPTON Scouts used their Christmas Fayre to show off their entrepreneurial skills on Saturday.
The scouts had stalls at the fayre run by scout patrols as part of the entrepreneur challenge. For this the youngsters had to make, design and sell a product, and try to make a profit.
Going along to the fayre to check out the sales skills of the scouts were town mayor Cllr the Rev Mike Davies, and Central Devon MP Mel Stride.
Mr Stride said: 'The scouts are an extraordinary organisation. They are unique in that they have a great history and set of traditions but have also modernised and are now more popular than ever.
'They give 400,000 young people across the country the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors every year and to develop responsible and positive values.'
The scouts consist of three age groups: beavers for six to eight year olds, cubs for eight to ten and a half year olds, and scouts for ten and a half year olds to 14 year olds.
The beavers meet on Wednesdays from 6pm to 7.30pm, the cubs meet on Tuesdays from 6pm to 7.30pm and the scouts meet on Thursdays from 7.30pm to 9pm. For information contact Skip on 01837 54497 or e-mail [email protected]">[email protected]
