SO, Alastair Tinto says that we should be proud of being in the European Union. (Times, March 17) Which of the following does he want us to be proud of?
1. Loss of our Sovereignty and being run by foreign powers (David Cameron perversely calls that patriotic).
2. Giving the EU (in 2015) the vast sum of £8.5-billion more than we got back in rebates etc. That’s £23-million a day that we could use to care for our needy people etc.
3. Inability to control our own borders.
4. The European Human Rights Act, being used to prevent us deporting terrorists, and costing us a fortune.
5. Small businesses being strangled by bureaucracy.
6. The imposing of numerous bits of inconvenient legislation on us, such as the dreadful fluorescent bulbs.
These are just a few. We have very little influence in the European Parliament and are locked in to a totalitarian, atheistic system unashamedly based on mythological Babylon. Even the European Parliament building in Strasbourg in designed on the tower of Babel.
This isn’t the common market, but a political system that we need to be free from on June 23 to run our own country, as we used to do quite successfully before being conned into joining.
