WITH reference to the to correspondence (Letters, November 13) regards the proposed £421,000 shop project in Exbourne: in 2004 a Parish Plan was carried out in Exbourne and Jacobstowe. This document is intended to allow residents to express their opinions on the future of their parish.

Of the 193 questionnaires delivered, 78% were returned. There was an even split about whether or not the PO/shop should continue in its present location, twice a week in the village hall.

Twenty-two per cent of those responding agreed with the proposed underground shop. A further 30% favoured the proposal if car parking issues were resolved.  I would add these issues remain unresolved. These figures clearly indicate opposition to this elaborate project.
