CHRISTMAS starts in Winkleigh this weekend, with lots of festive fun accompanying the switch on of the Christmas lights.
On Saturday December 10, a fun 'call my bluff' wine tasting evening takes place in the village hall from 7.30pm. Tickets cost £6 per person, with teams of up to six people pitting their wit and wine knowledge against each other. There will be a separate bar and snacks available. Tickets are available from Winkleigh Post Office, D&S and the Mad Butcher.
The following day, the Christmas lights will be switched on in the village square. From 3pm the square will be full of stalls for the Christmas Market, selling local produce and crafts, as well as soup, mince pies, mulled wine and cider punch to keep shoppers warm.
The Oasis Coffee Bar in the methodist chapel will be open for free hot soup and drinks. Contributions for charity will be gratefully received.
The Christmas lights will be switched on at 4.30pm, with Father Christmas handing out sweets and carols around the Christmas tree.
All are welcome to come and join in the festivities.
