A STUDENT at Shebbear College has just won an amazing art competiton to celebrate the release of the latest film by acclaimed director Tim Burton.

Fifth form student Emily Neal created a pop-art style piece inspired by the new film 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter', and uploaded the image onto the 20th Century Fox website to enter their 'Fresh Blood' competition.

Selected as one of twelve finalists, Emily's artwork was displayed online and the winner was selected by an online vote.

Receiving lots of support from family and friends, Emily's work took first place. Her efforts won her a 17" Macbook Pro, and her artwork was painted as a mural in London on the film's premiere night in June.

Emily said: 'I photoshopped digital art of Abraham Lincoln, young and old, with the American flag. I thought I would add the flag considering Lincoln was the president. The blood was painted by me and added due to the theme of vampires. All textures and brushes were made by me.'

Emily capped off a successful few weeks by receiving a prize for creative writing at the college's speech day. She was presented with her prize by guest speaker James Brent, owner of Plymouth Argyle FC.
