BOTH teams fielded a mixture of youth and experience in this exiciting game at Chagford, which was played despite the weather conditions.
North Devon made a steady start. and continued in good vein with the first six batsmen reaching double figures with youngsters Knapman (36) and Woolaway (43) being particularly impressive.
However wickets fell in the later stages of the innings and North Devon finished after 46 overs on 169 for 8 wickets.
Veteran seamer Paul Wakefield staked a claim for first team recall as in two spells he finished with 5 for 42.
In reply Chris Filor and Billy Searle put on 32 for the first wicket before Searle departed for 14, Rowlands soon followed.
However, then there were useful stands with Paul Penberthy (18) Simon Snell (15) before Rob Gofton, making a welcome return to the game after four years, showed he had lost none of his ability to put on a quickfire 40 partnership with Chris Filor who batted throughout the innings to finish with 74 not out.
Chagford reaching 171 for 4 to give them victory by six wickets.
North Devon contributed to their own downfall by bowling 36 extras.
Chagford earned 19 points, North Devon 5.
