HATHERLEIGH Ladies, 152-4 (Frances Lausen 84 not out, Clare Reynolds 24), beat Axminster Ladies 149-6 (Laini Czezpanski 42, Emily Broad 34 not out) by six wickets.
Hatherleigh Ladies won their first Devon League first division game of the season by beating Axminster, winners of the league in 2010. by six wickets. Axminster batted first and posted 149-6 in 35 overs. Mel Balsdon took two wickets for 39 and Kirsty Tidball bowled a very economical 7-over spell of one wicket for only 12 runs.
Hatherleigh's reply was based around a brisk second wicket stand of 98 between Frances Lausen and Clare Reynolds (24).
Frances Lausen ended on 84 not out off 83 balls and ensured that Hatherleigh completed the win with eight overs to spare.
