OKEHAMPTON Camera Club saw a 'flying visit' from some special guests to their recent meeting.
An evening dedicated to the topic of aerial photography saw two local companies making a name for themselves give presentations to OCC members.
Simon Burke from Exbourne runs South West Aerial Photography, and took to the stage for the first half of the evening to explain the challenges of shooting from a fixed wing aircraft, and the excellent results when you get things right.
Simon has had many of his photographs published in magazines both locally and nationally, available to view on http://www.southwestairpics.co.uk">www.southwestairpics.co.uk
The Hatherleigh-based Flyonix team also gave a talk. The trio of Ben Bailey, Ben Whiting and Rupert Brandon-King specialise in remote-control helicopter platforms for still and film camera. Rupert Brandon-King and Ben Bailey attended the meeting to talk about their unique machines.
The company put itself on the map for its role in creating a national television advert for Avios, in which the Flyonix team made household objects, including lawnmowers, barbecues and washing machines, fly. Since 2011 the trio have dedicated their time to developing and operating unmanned aerial systems for a variety of applications, including television, film and surveying.
More recently, the team created a film of Damien Hurst's controversial statue Verity in Ilfracombe.
