SHEBBEAR College students have produced a very strong set of GCSE results of their own, with more than 40% of all grades achieved being A* and A.
Among the highest achievers at the school were Emilio Aliberti with eight A*s and six As, Julian Blaskiewicz with ten A*s and two As, Jack Honey with five A*s and seven As, Tom Hill with six A*s and five As, and George Daniel with six A*s and three As.
Other students achieving at least eight A*s and As included Emily Dunn, Katie Trask, and county rugby player George Bone.
The art department had a 100% pass rate from A* to C, with 16 out of 19 students getting an A* or A grade.
Headmaster Simon Weale said: 'I am very happy with these results. We do not have a selective intake at the college and yet our UK pupils consistently punch above their weight and outperform their contemporaries.
'There is no doubt that this is down to our excellent teachers and our small class sizes.
'This also enables our international students to overcome the language barrier to perform very creditably. I should make special mention of Belen Montabes De la Cruz from Madrid who was with us for just one year, but achieved 4A*s and an A in subjects all studied in her second language.
'More importantly not only do our pupils achieve well academically but they emerge as confident and well-rounded individuals who will succeed in the world outside of school.'
