A SPECIAL afternoon was held last week to celebrate 21 years since Gilead Foundation first opened its doors as a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre.
The centre is based on a 320-acre organic dairy farm near Okehampton and the aim of the afternoon was to present what it does and to further local relations.
The day was supported with representatives from various council offices, Devon and Cornwall Police, Ovis Farm Project, councillors from Okehampton, West Devon Borough Council and Devon County Council.
Although the weather was poor the guests were provided with a history of Gilead Foundation, the process of rehabilitation, a tour of the working farm, and a cream tea.
The foundation and working farm was initially established by Ian and Bron Samuel, who now operate as general managers of the national charity.
