FOLLOWING up a successful day at the recent First Chance in Exeter, Okehampton Running Club had another excellent day when four members travelled to Camborne to contest the Storm Force 10 race hosted by Carn Runners of Cornwall and were well rewarded coming home with three trophies.

Running conditions were almost ideal, not as cold as of late, bright with a little wind on one stretch of the 10 mile course.

Roger Voaden, as always, ran really well, to finish 16th out of the 519 competitors in a time of 1hour 01 minute 01 second taking second prize in the male veteran 45 category.  Jane Jackson is back on form after a long lay off and posted a superb 1.18.33 which earned her the award for third in the female vet 50.  Marilyn Cooper ran a personal best in 1.23.39 coming second in the female vet 55.  Philippa Allom used this race as a training exercise for a forthcoming 32 mile challenge on Dartmoor and came in at a creditable 1.35.13.

Kirstin Phippard from the club said: 'Okehampton Running Club meet every Tuesday and Thursday night, regardless of weather, at 6.30pm at the football club in Simmons Park. The coaches have just started a course for complete beginners, so the club welcomes new members of all abilities.'
