STEP forward Freddy Ferdinand the Third — the winner of best in breed bull in the Red Ruby cattle class.

The Ellacott brothers, Guy and Ian, run Lower Larkworthy Farm at Ashwater, and brought Freddy along to the show. 15-month-old Freddy won the best bull born on or after January 1 2012 for native beef breeds Devon, and best breed Red Ruby.

It adds to a number of prizes won by Ian and Guy, including best in breed at Launceston Show and reserve champion at Devon County Show.

Ian said: 'We have only been doing this since March, and Freddy was a big investment for us, but he has a lot of potential and is showing it at the show today. He is a great bull, and hopefully one that can win us many prizes in the future.'
