THE annual South Zeal Big Weekend is just around the corner, with organisers planning a range of fun events for this year's event.

There is no summer ball this year with the committee taking a well-earned break, but the Zale Fayre at the recreation ground on Saturday, July 2 will be as jam-packed as ever with fun activities for young and old.

The South Zeal Beer Festival kicks off the fayre-day's events, with the first pints being pulled at noon. The festival runs on Saturday and Sunday between noon and 6pm, and offers a wide range of real ales and a full bar.

For those not partial to a drop of beer but looking for food, barbecue and lunches, cream teas and puddings from the pudding club will be available.

From 2pm there will be a bouncy castle, face painting, skittles, sponge throwing, a duck race and games from OCRA on offer for kids.

There will also be the grand summer draw, with an off-road Land Rover experience up for grabs.

On Sunday, July 3 the day's events start with an interdenominational church service in the marquee.

A free tea dance takes place in the marquee during the afternoon, with pimms and cream teas available.

There will be an energetic game of village rounders on the playing field at 3pm.

Wet or dry, South Zeal's Big Weekend promises to be a lot of fun, and everyone is welcome.
