ENGLISH Heritage will be offering free access to Okehampton Castle and grounds for the annual Bluebell Sunday event this weekend (May 16).

The site will be open from 10am.

Okehampton Community Recreation Association (OCRA) will provide a number of games and activities until noon and weather permitting at 2pm will also offer a chance for visitors to have a go at fencing. All equipment will be provided.

From noon until 2pm in the splendid setting of the castle ruins, Tinners Morris of South Zeal will entertain, together with singers and musicians from folk choirs and orchestras across Devon.

Folk arts charity Wren Music will be bringing together members of a variety of its ensembles, including Exeter-based community choir Voices In Common, local music and singing project Okehampton Song Tales, the Folk Orchestra of North Devon, and the East Devon folk orchestra Rough Music, for a lunchtime of folk songs and tunes from Devon and further afield.

At other times there will be stories and castle tours led by the Castle Steward.

There are woodland walks and picnic areas around the castle and refreshments will be available.
