The Okehampton Round Table have donated £250 to St James CofE Primary and Nursery School to go towards the upkeep of its garden.

The money will be used to plant willow arches in the garden for the children to enjoy.

Martin Hensberg, vice chairman of the Round Table, said: ’It’s to help set up the garden and plant willow trees. One of our members will be going to do that.

’There’s a few of us who have kids at the school so it’s quite close to home.’

The school said Mr Hensberg tries to encourage the children to spend time outdoors and enjoy nature so the addition of willow arches in the school garden will help to create an attractive place for the children to play and learn.

Principal Suzie Stevens said: ’Our Friends of St James group were delighted to receive the kind donation from the Round Table to plant willow trees in the Spring. The trees will be part of a willow dome where the children can learn and play. We would like to express a big thank you to them for supporting our school.’

St James is one of two primary schools in Okehampton which opened in 2018.
