THE Jubilee path in Hatherleigh now has some splendid new gates to commemorate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
The gates were installed on the path, which runs between Park Road and Victoria Road, by Ben Whiting and Rupert Brandon King just in time for the town's celebrations.
They were officially opened by Andy Gilbert, standing in for the mayor Grahame Alford, who could not attend due to illness.
The town celebrated the jubilee in grand style, with the silver band marching down Market Street, dancing in the square, live music, competitions for the best decorated house and children's drawings, and the lighting of the beacon.
Mugs were handed out to youngsters under 11, and Hatherleigh residents born in the town in 1952.
