THANK you for drawing your readers' attention to the street collections on Saturday in Tavistock and Okehampton, celebrating the 125th anniversary os SSAFA Forces Help (The Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association). We collected £531.06 in Tavistock and £354.40 in Okehampton.
One day's paid service in any of our Armed Forces is all that is needed to qualify for assistance from SSAFA Forces Help.
This includes those who serve in our Reserve Forces and anyone who did National Service as well as close relatives, widows and widowers. Trained volunteers (from all walks of life) act as friends to people with problems and difficulties, and obtain financial support when needed.
