The Family Dog Show in the Meadows, which is usually part of Tavistock Carnival Week, is going ahead tomorrow as a stand alone event after the carnival and party in the park were cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Tavistock Lions’ Club will be running the event with entries being taken from 1pm.

Full details of the classes and the terms and conditions of entry can be found on the Tavistock Lions’ Club website at www.tavistocklions.org.uk and on its Facebook page. You can also pre-register online by visiting the website – and pay on the day.

There will be four pedigree classes and seven novelty classes including best handler under 12 years; the best tail wagger and the one with the most appealing eyes.

Also included for the first time will be four classes for cross breeds such as the cockapoo and the beddy/whippet which have become so popular over the last few years.

There will be medals awarded to all class winners and rosettes for up to fourth place with best in show and reserved best in show for the breed classes. There will also be best and reserve best for the novelty classes.

The Lions are delighted to welcome Jade Curtis BSc as the show judge and Ron’s Pets which has sponsored the show and provided many of the prizes.
