SOUTH Zeal's Victory Hall and Bow Primary School will both host professional arts events as part of the Villages in Action autumn programme.

VIA is a scheme that helps bring top quality professional arts events to rural communities. The three villages will all host events as part of the recently announced VIA autumn programme, which runs from September to December.

Bow Primary will host Hors Pistes, an outdoor circus-theatre company with its show Ordures et Menagere. The show tells the story of Mr and Mrs Anybody, who live a quiet life, where everything is not quite as it seems. The story becomes a spectacle, slowly revealing who the couple truly are.

The company is based in Carcassone in France, and has built a reputation for exciting outdoor circus theatre. If it is raining, the show will take place in the school hall. The event is on Saturday, September 21 — call 01363 82379 for more details.

On October 19 and 20, South Zeal's Victory Hall will host a weekend exhibition and workshop with Anita Reynolds. Anita is a Devon-based printmaker and associate member of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen.

Throughout 2012 she walked the 630-mile South West Coast Path from Minehead to Poole and produced drypoint plates each day. Her Printmaker's Journey exhibition is the result of this endeavour.

The exhibition will be open from 10.30am to 5.30pm each day. On Sunday, October 20 there will be a workshop from 10am to 4pm. To book contact Kari on [email protected]">[email protected] or call 01837 840695.

Songwriter and humorist Simon Egerton will weave a narrative of family life and relationships through original songs and stories during his show Fag Ends and Families, taking place at the Victory Hall on Wednesday, October 23. The solo piece, packed with witty original songs and anecdotes, was a big hit at last year's Edinburgh Fringe. For more details call 01837 840564.
