TWO golden retrievers who went missing from a house in Sampford Courtenay last Friday afternoon have been found — much to the relief of their owners.
The two females — 11-year-old Mazda and 18-month-old Fern — managed to get out through a gate but were found tonight (Monday) a mile from their home by a pheasant keeper.
Local press reported on the animals disappearance at the time and a drone was even called in to help search the rural area, along with help from residents and police.
Owners Heather and Richard Johns said they were ‘relieved’ to finally have them home.
Heather said: ‘We have found them after three long days, tired, hungry and very wet but ok.’
On social media Heather said: ’Mazda was extremely cold in a small ball shivering and Fern stayed with her, which epitomises how close they are, how the younger one stood by the older dog. Just need to warm her up slowly.’
Heather thanked everyone for their support, especially to Dog Lost UK and Dog Lost Drone SAR, Scott Cleverdon, Andy Sweeny and to everyone who has shared and messaged all the local services.
