COMMUNITIES in the Torridge district will benefit from the continuation of the councillor community grants scheme.
Each of the district council's 36 councillors is given a budget of £1,000 to benefit local residents. The scheme enables councillors to support local groups within their communities even more, and to become more involved with local projects at a grass roots level.
Leader of the council Barry Parsons said: 'I encourage voluntary or community groups serving residents in Torridge to apply to get inolved in this scheme.
'The money is there to help local communities, so please get in touch with your elected councillor and see if they can help you.'
Councillors are able to join up with other ward councillors to support a wider project, and can offer up to 100% of the total project costs.
Councillors may choose to award the whole of their £1,000 budget to one project, or break the fund down into smaller grants to a number of different projects.
If you are interested in applying to the Scheme please contact the appropriate Ward councillor.
If you are unsure which councillor represents your area please contact the community development officer on 01237 428756 or e-mail [email protected]">[email protected]
