SCOUTS from across Mid Devon, including groups from North Tawton and South Zeal, converged on Bondleigh recently for a district scout camp. Johnnie and Nickie Jordan gave the scouts the use of their private lake and adjoining field for a weekend of camping, Canadian canoeing, kayaking, raft building, coaracle making and racing, archery and shooting. Activities were led by leaders from the various groups, offering a wide variety of activities, from frantic games in kayaks, to sedate Canadian canoeing, and raft building. Following a series of races, the results were level between North Tawton and Crediton. The teams entered a deciding Canadian canoe race, earning North Tawton the District Camp Shield which was presented at the closing ceremony by Marc Coton, district commissioner. Organisers expressed thanks to Johnnie Jordan, Danny Semorad, Will Hosegood, the leaders, AS Watersports, Steve Attfield and the scouts themselves.
Great weekend at camp!
