HALDON Young Farmers have finished third in the National Young Farmers ballroom dancing competition finals, which saw eight teams from across England and Wales.

Haldon’s team represented Devon and has representatives form Bow, Cheriton and Tedburn, Newton St Cyres and Kenn Valley.

The team worked on the performance over the last few months, with weekly practices to improve technique and timing.

Youngest member of the dance group, 16 year old Zoe Burrow, choreographed the dance after watching YouTube videos to get the basic steps.

Georgina Davie of the YFC group said: ’Zoe did an amazing job choreographing us, bearing in mind we hadn’t danced ballroom before, she taught us the basic steps and then we worked hard to develop lifts and more advanced moves.’

The national finals were judged by Carol May and Lewis Danson from the Carol May Dance Academy who said that the standard was very hard, making it a difficult decision for them to make.

The Haldon Group dance team expressed thanks to all the young farmers who supported them at the finals, and to family and friends who travelled to Blackpool for the day to watch the performance.
