Devon and Exeter three South Zeal Utd 3

Colyton 4

ZEAL took the lead after 10 minutes when a great corner from Garry Smith was glanced home by Harley Cann.

The home side then proceeded to hand Colyton two soft goals. The first a mis-communication between two defenders ended an an own goal and the second a flighted cross that deceived the Zeal defence and left Reg Wonnacott stranded as it flew into the top corner.

Zeal conceeded another two goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half to go 4-1 down when the visitors broke twice as Zeal pushed for an equaliser.

The home side kept plugging away and with five minutes left had reduced the deficite to one goal as Harley Cann completed his hat-trick when first a he finished from close range after a good passing move between Tom Reilly and Redd Cann set him up and then Harley produced a great finish after a good run and pass from Darren Gilbert.

The visitors were now hanging on but Zeal couldn't complete the comeback even though they hit the bar through Darren Gilbert in the closing minutes.

The previous week Zeal were far the better side at Kentisbeare but missed chances and several defensive lapses cost Zeal dear, only a Tom Reilly goal midway through the second half gave them any compensation after dominating the game for long spells.
