Fire crews were called to a report of a spillage of hazardous material in Okehampton last Thursday.
A small quantity of mercury had been spilt in a domestic property in Launceston Road at around noon.
Three crews, two from Okehampton and one from Tavistock attended the incident.
Crews wore protective clothing and breathing apparatus to clean up the spillage and contain the mercury in a chemical bag.
They then gave
advice regarding decontamination to the occupiers of the property, and disposed of items affected by the spillage.
Two of the occupiers attended hospital as a precaution.
