SIGNIFICANT improvements have been made at Okehampton Primary School, according to its latest Ofsted monitoring report.
The report follows an inspection at the end of January, the fourth monitoring inspection since the school became subject to special measures in June 2009.
According to the latest report, pupils' attainment and progress across all year groups has seen substantial improvements, and attainment in reading is now significantly above the national average.
The report also mentions how happy children are at school, and praises the mechanisms in place for dealing with the 'very few' children with challenging behaviour.
Staff are heavily praised throughout the report, and are described as 'increasingly confident and ambitious to improve'.
The school was placed under special measures in 2009 after a failed inspection revealed issues with achievement, effectiveness and leadership at the school.
