PUPILS at South Tawton Primary School (left) did their bit for St Andrew's Church roof repair fund, with a non-uniform day and cake sale on the last day of the spring term.

Children raised £177 for the repair fund, which is to pay for urgent work required on the roofs of both transepts of the church. Hot cross buns and cakes were donated by parents and the Okehampton bakeries Sweet Success and Endacott's.

The church recently received a £151,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, which will cover 68 per cent of the total repair costs. The parish still needs to raise another £70,000 to ensure the work can be carried out to save the church roof.

Everyone at St Andrew's Church expressed thanks to all pupils, staff and the bakeries.
