OKEHAMPTON Town Council is seeking information from Jobcentre Plus over its 'outreach service' in the town.
After closing down permanent Jobcentres in the town and Tavistock and following demands for a service to be reinstated, the Government-backed service started a three-month trial period in April for the Jobcentre at the Okement Centre.
It currently offers a two-day a week service, including free customer access to a telephone for clients to use for information on income support, as well as other advisory services.
At a meeting of the town council's planning committee last week, members sought the confirmation of the three-month trial period and what numbers of clients were using the facility.
