West Devon Borough Council is asking local people and organisations to suggest stop-off points for the Queen’s Baton Relay when it crosses the borough on July 4-5.
The council is looking for communities or individuals holding events, at which baton could stop, that exemplify this year’s themes of common ground, digital innovation, youth, sporting excellence, inspirational people and projects, and better futures.
As it is the Queen’s platinum jubilee year the council said that this would be a fantastic way to celebrate her reign, though it has stressed that it is only looking for ideas and locations at the moment.
The relay which crosses all 72 Commonwealth countries prior to the start of the Commonwealth Games which will take place in Birmingham this year.
The relay lasts for 269 days and covers approximately 90,000 miles. It is currently in Samoa.
It will return to Britain in the summer and travel across England between July 4-8.
