LACE up your walking boots and join in a gentle plod to raise funds for grieving children and families this Sunday (July 3).

Local charity Jeremiah’s Journey, which supports families who have experienced or are experiencing the death of someone special, is once again hosting this annual event which will see participants ‘plod’ six scenic miles around Dartmoor, stopping off at pubs along the way and finishing with some live music and a barbecue.

The event starts at The Royal Oak in Meavy and registration begins at 10am at the Meavy Parish Hall, with the walk starting at 11am.

The scenic walk will take participants through Clearbrook, onto Drakes Trail Cycle Track, into Yelverton and back to Meavy for a barbecue and live music from Last Orders Unplugged.

Mervyn Orchard, Jeremiah’s Journey trustee and participant from last year’s walk, said: ‘The Parish Plod is one of my favourite fundraising days of the year. It’s a great family day walking between pubs over the very scenic Dartmoor while raising funds for children that have lost a parent or close family member through death.’
