HALWILL Parish Hall will be full of celebratory cheer this month, when residents celebrate the long awaited extension to the hall.

The Halwill Hall Development Group has spent several years fundraising and applying for grants to raise more than £90,000 for the extension project.

Known as the Jubilee Suite, the room will primarily be used by Scallywags Pre-School, and also for meetings and as a small function room.

This will provide more opportunities to generate income for the hall, which can be re-invested to make continuous improvements.

This project is part financed by the European Agricultural Fund for European Development 2007-2013: Europe investing in rural areas.

It is being delivered by the Halwill Hall Development Group with Defra as the Managing Authority.

Other funders are Scallywags Pre-School, Halwill Parish Council, Devon County Councillor Grant Scheme, The Garfield Weston Charitable Foundation, The Bernard Sunley Charitable Foundation, Barclays Bank PLC and the continued generous support of local people and businesses.

On November 24 the room will be officially opened at 3pm with a celebratory afternoon tea.

The special guest will be Cllr Barry Parsons of Torridge District Council, who has been a long-term advocate of the project.
