DO YOU know what benefits you are entitled to? At this time of year, family budgets are often stretched more than normal, but many people are not aware of the financial help they're entitled to.

Devon Welfare Rights Unit has joined with Barnado's Childrens' Centres to raise awareness among families of their entitlement to benefits and tax credits.

A free information session will take place on January 27 at the Ockment Centre in Okehampton from 1pm to 3pm. The session is available to parents and carers of children `at any pre-school, nursery, toddler group or childcare setting in West Devon. Staff or volunteers working with children and families are also welcome to attend so they are better able to give information to parents.

Staff from the Devon Welfare Rights Unit will be on hand to answer questions.

A further session will take place in Tavistock's Alexander Centre on Plymouth Road between 10am and mid day on January 27.
