THE third Okehampton Summer Ball by the Okehampton Starlight Ladies, in aid of Cancer Research, was held recently.

This bi-annual event took the theme of ‘A night at the Oscars’ with 300 guests eager to raise as much money as possible for this fantastic cause.

The ball was the culmination of many months of planning for the Starlight Ladies and they are proud to say it was another great success raising £10,000 for Cancer Research.

They expressed thanks to the many people and companies that supported them in their endeavour.

Sophie O’Connor, Cancer Research UK’s area volunteer manager said: ‘The Starlight Ladies are an absolute inspiration and we can’t thank them enough for their continued support and dedication. 

 ‘Cancer Research UK has made enormous progress in the fight against cancer. However, we have only been able to do this thanks to the dedication and commitment of our volunteers and supporters without whom we would not be able to fund outstanding scientists, doctors and nurses.’
