ORGANISERS of Keep Okehampton Tidy have announced the date of their next litter pick in November.

A number of organisations and children, staff and parents from the primary school will turn out across the area to pick up litter and tidy the town on Saturday, November 28.

The format will be the same as in previous years with two main meeting areas, Okehampton Primary School just inside the main gate and the recycling bins in Waitrose’s car park to join with the Ockment Rivers Improvement Group.

Cllr the Rev Mike Davies, who helped create Keep Okehampton Tidy when he was town mayor, said: ‘We are also encouraging residents to take responsibility for their own streets, collecting rubbish and putting it with their normal black bin bags for normal collection.

‘All collected rubbish can be taken to Okehampton Primary School and placed inside the main gates. However, it must be deposited by 2pm on the day.

‘We are also looking for community groups to sign up for the community litter pick.’
