SOUTH Zeal Carnival organisers are pulling out all the stops this year to encourage people of all ages in the community to join in the fun on a programme-packed carnival day on October 24.

Adding to the festivities will be a street market in the main street of South Zeal from 9am until 3pm. £5 pitches are now being booked by calling 01837 840142.

During the morning there will be a scarecrow competition being judged — entry £1, to receive an entry form call 01837 840946.

From noon until 4pm South Zeal Show will take place in Victory Hall with classes for adults for vegetables, pot plants, flower arrangements, cooking, crafts and preserves.

Any age group can enter classes for photography and best Hallowe'en pumpkin.

Classes for children are for cooking, flower arranging, and novelty and for the under 5s there is a class for decorated biscuit or painting or drawing.

Children's events start at 1.30pm with fancy dress competitors meeting at the King's Arms car park.

There are classes for under five walking, five to seven walking, eight to nine walking, ten to eleven walking, decorated wheels, pairs, groups and a class for those aged 12 to 16.
